ARUS Shetland Sheepdogs

Our home
"Shelties have been my love since youth, so it was only natural to choose the breed as 4-H projects for our sons, to go along with their sheep."

Our shelties love to learn, very quickly train. They seemingly live to please their people.

About our dogs:
I hold very specific standards when choosing breeding dogs. Our dogs are chosen for:

Structure: My preference is a strong, sound structure, leaning to the working class dog that the Shetland Island dog genetically derives from. While I look for strength I also look for dogs reflecting specific character. My goal is to offer agile, sound bodies capable of the breeds origin of herding, along with an outgoing personality essential in agility.

Character: I have yet to meet a Sheltie within my standards that does not also have a loving and charming disposition. Shelties are a gentle, dedicated breed and are deserving of a home that offers the same.

New News: (2010-01-05) - Our new focus is on participating in the formation of a new AKC Eastern New York Shetland Sheepdog Club. This originates as an attempt to formulate a closely knit group of Sheltie enthusiasts. If you are in the Capital District of New York or the Southeastern section of Vermont we would be happy to welcome you. If you are interested please email us, or douglas.vohnoutka@gmail.com for more information. We are planning an organizational meeting in early February.

Welcome: (2010-01-05) - Arus Shetland Sheepdogs would like to welcome newcomer and partner kennel Adirondog Shetland Sheepdogs. Both Kennels follow a similar philosophy on the breed and we look forward to future pairings between them. We are looking forward to the arrival of their new puppy, and to an anticipated breeding in two years between our two kennels.

Reflecting: (2010-01-05) - Reflecting the years that we have enjoyed and offered the Shetland Island dog bring bitter-sweet memories. For, as you know, children grow older, and so do their dogs. Our first girls have retired, and our children are young adults. We are still enjoying the pictures and stories we receive from families who have chosen Arus' bloodline puppies. We anticipate being able to share a scrapbook page(or pages)of pictures and stories, so please keep them coming. And again, thank you for your encouragement and support.

Puppies on the way!! (2010-01-04) - Check back often to see the Holly and Gunner pups. You won't want to miss out on this Beautiful cross.
